Caledonia is my net name and I’ve been using it for a couple of years now, although there have been times when I’ve gone by my real name. Caledonia is the old Roman name for Scotland and I chose it as a net name because I’m very proud of being Scottish and it is a very important part of my identity. My family have been in Scotland for generations and it was where I was born, so I have very strong roots here and I don’t think I will ever live anywhere else.
The purpose of this blog is to offer the visitor a wee slice of Scotland and the posts will vary in subject depending on what I want to share with you. I began posting about different places I liked to visit on my personal blog and quickly discovered I wanted to talk about different aspects of Scottish life, hence the separate blog.
Please note the posts won’t be offering an in-depth study of any particular subject as my main purpose is to offer a glimpse into Scotland’s past and present. I’m a bit of a history buff so don’t be surprised if most of the topics cover the past rather than the present but I’m always open to suggestions.
Hopefully, you will realise there is a lot more to Scotland than tartan, bagpipes and whisky.
One thing I will not be discussing is politics, although I may touch upon it from time to time, mainly because it is not a subject I feel comfortable talking about.
